The day begins with a drive along the west coast through the town of Borgarnes all the way to the beach in Ytri Tunga which is a well-known seal colony. The seals are friendly and curious and will climb up on the rocks near the sandy beach.
The next stop is the fishing hamlet Arnarstapi and then Hellnar where you will have time to walk along the cliffs for half an hour; the view to the sea from this hike is breathtaking.
In Djúpalónssandur you will discover incredible rock formations. The beaches are covered with small black stones which are unique. You will hike to one of the most impressive formations called Lóndrangar, which are a pair of rock pinnacles made of basalt approximately 70 m high.
After enjoying the many amazing sites above ground level it is now time to journey towards the Center of the Earth! You will go caving in the Vatnshellir lava cave where you can see the tumult of the volcanic landscape up close. This cave was created by volcanic eruption 7.000 ago.
You will also stop in Saxhóll which is an old 100 m high volcanic crater. There is a good path to the top of the crater where you can enjoy one of the most spectacular view in the area. From the magical Snæfellsnesjökull glacier to the mighty Atlantic Ocean, the scenery is simply amazing.
At the end of the first day of Snæfellsnes peninsula tour, you will finish with a drive through three small fishing villages on the way to atmospheric village of Stykkisholmur, scene of the famous movie “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty”. There you will enjoy a lovely evening and spend the night in the unique Hotel Fransiskus, a beautiful hotel located in a former monastery. The rooms are cozy and comfortable with private bathrooms.
After a refreshing rest and having breakfast at the hotel, you day starts on a high with a visit to the majestic Kirkjufell mountain, which is one of the most popular photo stops in Iceland. If you have not used your camera before on the tour then this one is a must! You will also visit the Bjarnarhöfn Shark Museum, where you can taste some traditional Icelandic shark with a local schnapps while viewing hundreds of fishing and boating artifacts.
Driving across the Snæfellsnes peninsula, your next stop is at Gerðuberg, a big wall of huge Basalt columns. The cliff is 500 m long and 12 to 14 meters high, one of the highest in Iceland. This is one of the marvels of nature that just makes you stop and wonder about the architectural brilliance of mother earth.
Next is the visit to the historic Borgarfjordur area where you will see the great Hraunfossar, a series of waterfalls formed by rivulets streaming over a distance of about 900 m (almost 300 ft!) across the Hallmundarhraun lava field, which flow from an eruption of one of the volcanoes lying under the glacier Langjökull. The waterfalls pour into the Hvítá River from ledges created by less porous rock in the lava.
Literally a stone’s throw upstream from Hraunfossar, you will visit another waterfall called Barnafoss. Its name, “the waterfall of the children,” comes from an accident which is said to have taken place here in a previous century. There was a natural stone bridge over the waterfall, and two children from a nearby farm fell to their deaths crossing the river on the bridge. Afterwards, the grief-stricken mother had the bridge destroyed.
Finally, take in the sights at Deildartunguhver, the highest-flow hot spring in Europe, providing 180 liters pr second of 100@C hot water! Thread the path carefully while watching and hearing the powerful energy of the hot spring at work. To put the icing on the cake, your last stop today will be at the Krauma natural geothermal baths & Spa, located next to Deildartunguhver. This brand new beautiful Spa offers five relaxing geothermal baths, a cold tub, two steam baths and more, all in a very natural environment.
After this adventure exploring the West of Iceland for two unforgettable days, you set off back to Reykjavik arriving there in time to enjoy the rest of your night while reflecting on the beauty of the Icelandic nature.

Had a wonderful tour with Antonio, and our driver David. Antonio was so knowledgeable and kind, and so much fun. We had a fantastic experience and packed in so much in just 2 days! This was a fantastic experience. Thank you!
The 2 Day Snaefellsnes Tour with David was fantastic! I spent 2 wonderful days in this peninsula, each place was so peaceful and beautiful. Even the whale watching was cancelled, David brought us to different "secret place" to share us his passion for this wonderful country! Thank you so much for this Icelandic experience and for the unique birthday song! I recommend this trip with the enthusiastic David.
My daughter and I joined David for this 2 day introduction to the Icelandic experience and it was more than we could have asked for. Well spread out program so that you don't feel rushed. And most importantly, David was an excellent guide who shared his enthusiasm and passion for the beautiful country. Being part of a very small group, David took extra care and made the 2 days a very happy experience. Will highly recommend the trip and David 🙂
It is an unforgettable nice trip in Iceland. We are so happy to meet David Jaronsson, he is a great guide, friendly and helpful. David shared with us lots of knowledge and show us beautiful views. Highly recommend this 2 day trip with amazing experience!
A wonderful journey never had, David is an excellent guide, introduce each place and shared his experience how to travel in Iceland.
We went to Reykjavik during the worst snow storm in the last 50 years according to the news and we had to cancel a few trips due to closed roads and bad weather. Finally we got a couple of amazing sunny days and we decided to go to Snæfellsnes. David had some troubles to pick us up due to the snow but once we joined the group the trip was really enjoyable and the landscapes absolutely stunning. We were a small group, which was great as we were able to spend more time speaking to David and learning all about this region of Iceland. David was a great guide and shared lots of interesting information throughout the day. The highlight of the trip was seeing the stunning landscapes that I had read about in the novel: Journey to the Centre of the Earth. On the way back to Reykjavik he gave us tips on where we could best see the Northern Lights in the city (our northern lights trip had been cancelled the night before because of the snow). And once back he texted us to tell us that he had seen them so we ran outside to the park across the road and got to see an amazing show for about one hour!.
I recently had the pleasure of attending this tour with David Jaronsson as our guide and let me tell you, it was worth every penny and more. Although things did not go exactly as planned, it actually turned out even better. Before coming to Iceland I read to not set expectations of Northern Lights or to see the Orcas, as both are part of nature and cannot be planned. This turned out to be the case, but David made the trip with his fun personality, witty humor, knowledge of the island, and his personalization for each member involved. He turned lemons into lemonade and took us on an adventure that truly was a trip of a lifetime; one that I will never forget. It included making friends from all over the world, caving a lava tube, hiking to the top of a volcano crater, visiting a seal colony, standing on the cliffs viewing rock formations, sitting on the black sand beaches watching the waves, eating at local restaurants (great food by the way), and so much more. I highly recommend this excursion. Trust me, it is a dream come true.
It is on this tour that I saw the Northern Lights - the thrilling Lights. We saw magnificent rock formations, hot springs, a geyser and ate really well. Ulfur, our guide, was smart, kind, and unusually helpful. He made the trip a delight.
We have just completed our 2 day tour with David Jaronsson. The experience was excellent and well beyond my expectations. I give David full credit for making the trip so enjoyable with his local knowledge, interesting anecdotes and friendliness. I highly recommend this trip and David.
I'd just finished 2 days Snaefellsnes tour with Jaka and Sigurgon. This 2 days tour are absolutely fantastic. I'm able to see the northern lights, waterfall. The restaurant we had dinner are very nice. These two gus are very caring and helpful. I would like to go back again with them. Just want to say big thanks to them.
Thanks to Nicetravel , we really enjoyed the beautiful Snaefellnes tour in the winter. We had a lovely and comfortable time. Our guide David is a very nice guy.He took us to the wonderful places to take pictures and he arranged us everything perfectly. And ,David was so kind and helpful even for my aunt who isn't good at speaking English.I highly recommend you this tour.
My husband and I booked for 2 day tour. This is our first tour during the 9 days stay in Iceland. It is really a great experience. Our guide is David. He is a so nice guy. In our team, there are 4 Chinese old ladies, whose English are not so good. David is very patient and always double check if they have fully understand his meaning and helps them to arrange the heavy luggages. Also, when David realized most of us did not have chance to see the northern light , on the way back, he checked the weather information, gave us very useful information. We are so lucky and find the northern light finally. The two day tour is quite valuable. Have took many unique, special, incredible photos and vedio. Highly recommended!
I really recommend you of this tour as we really saw many amazing views during the 2 days. Being in the volcano cave underground was completely an new experience and we enjoyed the darkness and silence when we all turned off our lights. We were very lucky to have sunshine when we visited the waterfalls and the beach. The view of the landscape was awesome. We also saw some adorable Icelandic bourse on the way and our guide David made an extra stop for us to take some pictures, which was very nice of him. And David gave us a lot information about the volcano and glaciers during the trip and he always remind us to dress warm. So thanks David:) Though we didn't have the chance to see the orca on the second day, but we did see some cut white peaked dolphins. It was a great trip overall.
This tour is really awesome. The places we go are unforgettable. Our tour guide is David Jaron. He always brings us to an excellent restaurant. And I really like the crater he brings us to. He walked with us at every spot and told us the knowledge about that. Most importantly, we chatted like friends. It's a great experience and I have a good time these two days.
Booked this tour through guide to Iceland and it was amazing. We didn't exactly have a nice weather there in snafellsnes, didn't see the sea seals or the whales, and the whale watching tour got rescheduled, left us no time for the planes waterfalls. But I'm grateful that we had a great guide David with us along the tour, introducing us to the amazing restaurants, stopping at amazing sites as waterfall and crates when we had no time for original plans, and of course offered us great introductions throughout the journey. Those days would have been much more boring if David wasn't there with us. Thank you great Snafellsnes views and amazing guide David.
Me and my friend booked this trip through guide to Iceland and it was the best decision ever. Antonio was our tour guide and he did an excellent job at it. He stopped at the most amazing places for lunch and dinner breaks and made sure we all had healthy food. Our whale watching got cancelled due to rough seas but Antonio didnt let that disappoint us. He made sure we got the most out of our trip and organised alternative options to ensure our time wasnt wasted. He also gave us some amazing tips yo click great pictures and create wonderful memories for life .
