2 Day South Coast Tour | Blue Ice Cave, Jokulsarlon, Black Beach & Waterfalls
Join this tour along Iceland’s south coast to discover the stunning unique natural Blue Ice cave, glaciers, lava fields, volcanoes, strong rivers and magic waterfalls.
After being picked up in Reykjavik in the morning, your next two days will be an unforgettable adventure exploring the many amazing natural wonders of the South Coast of Iceland.
On the first day, visits to the famous waterfalls, Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss are amongst the highlights but you also visit the less known but no less beautiful waterfalls of Gljufrabui, Kvernufoss and Irafoss. The black sand beach of Reynisfjara with its amazing surrounding area completes this exiting day.
After a good rest, your adventure continues the second day where you will visit the beautiful Skaftafell and walk on the Diamond Beach, an amazing black beach scattered with icebergs, next to Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon. The stunning Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon is where huge icebergs float in ice cold water and seals swim around them.
The highlight of the tour is a visit to a natural ice cave in Vatnajökull, Iceland’s largest glacier. The ice in the cave is spectacularly blue and is a very popular attraction.

Setting out from Reykjavík, you will drive along route 1 passing through small towns and enjoying the beauty of the Icelandic countryside. Your first stop will be at the famous Seljalandsfoss waterfall, which is located beneath the Eyjafjallajokull volcano. Remember to ask your tour guide all about the colossal eruption back in 2010. Close by is the beautiful but less known waterfall Gljufrabui.
Next up is the stunning Skogafoss, a drop of 60 m (200ft) of natural raw power that must be seen to be believed. You will then have the additional pleasure of visiting the secret waterfalls of Kvernufoss and Írafoss.
Then it is on to Reynisfjara, a black sand beach nestling under Mt. Reynisfjall – seasonal home to numerous puffins that dive from its cliffs out to sea. Black basalt has been shaped into amazing different formations, most notably the famous Reynisdrangar. Beware the might of the Atlantic Ocean which looms with its powerful waves.
At the end of the day, your accommodation awaits in Seljaland, a lovely country guesthouse located in a beautiful spot close to Seljalandsfoss. On the way there and during the night, we will look out for the Northern Lights if conditions are favourable to see them.
Today, you set off in the morning for a totally unique experience. A visit to a natural stunning Blue Ice cave will be the highlight of the day. After a drive through the lovely village of Vik, you stop at the Skaftafell national park where the amazing views will take your breath away!
You then continue to the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon. This famous lagoon is filled with huge chunks of ice that have cracked off Breiðamerkurjökull glacier and float slowly out to sea. Some icebergs wash on shore, lying on the vivid black sand like diamonds on satin and from there, your Ice cave adventure will begin.
The ice caves only form in the winter when glacial water freezes to create this unique natural phenomenon. Each season, the local glacier experts find the best caves to visit in an enjoyable and safe way. From the glacier lagoon, they drive you through the best of Icelandic highlands in a special Super Jeep to the ice cave. There you will have about an hour to explore and enjoy the magical blue caves. Please do not forget to bring your camera!
After this unforgettable adventure, you drive back to the Jokulsarlon where you join the bus again to head back to Reykjavik. On the way back, you will of course be able to enjoy the beautiful nature of the South Coast and to make a quick stop in Vik village for some refreshments, while keeping an eye out for the Northern lights if conditions are right.

The tour is great, saw lot of waterfalls and glaciers but never felt too much. Our tour guide Valti was very nice. The hostel is great, not very clouded, the rooms are clean. Breakfast is great too. I would recommend this tour.
we tried the 2days ice cave tour and it was really well organised enough to see the breathtaking nature of the iceland. Most of all, i'm sincerely moved with our tour guide (Mike)'s kindness and consideration. He is not the one who explains and talks all the time during the travel but he is the one who cares every single members of our tour. There was a girl who went travel alone, Mike always tried to talk to her and made her feel not alone :)He told me that he doesn't regret chaning his job as tour guide and i certainly can say that he made a right choice 🙂 thank you Mike!! you made our travel!! P.S i will use this company next time if i visited Iceland next year!!
Our second day was sunny and we went to skaftfell to see the sunrise. It was really unforgettable. Our tour guide is Luise, a reaaaally funny Italian girl. She told us many interesting story about Iceland. Our driver is David, also reaaaally funny and nice. I will come back Iceland in a summer! Wait for me lol!
The guide is pretty pretty nice. Lu has the great knowledge about Iceland and she could introduce a lot to us. On top of this, the driver is pretty nice as well. I really enjoy the trip and will memorize it forever. Super recommended!
We were given enough time at each stop. Our tour guide, Valti was very attentive and made us feel safe and comfortable throughout the trip.
This tour was by far the best part of my trip to Iceland. Our guides were fantastic! They knew all kinds of interesting facts about what we were seeing and Iceland in general. They took us to some secret spots in addition to the main tourist attractions. I loved that this was a small group tour. Our driver, David, could take us places the big tour buses could not go. This tour combines so many wonderful things all in one. I can't speak highly enough of this tour, our guides and the company in general.
The tour was excellent! We did the 2 day, 1 night tour from Reyjkavik to Jokulsarlon glacier. The trip far exceeded our expectations. The natural beauty of the area was breathtaking. I am so thankful that we took the time to go out to the glacier and see diamond beach, ice caves, and icebergs. Our tour guide David was EXCELLENT! He really went above and beyond for everyone in our tour group and really made the tour extraordinary. We stopped on the way back to the city to see the northern lights. Although we'd already seen them, many in our group REALLY wanted to see them and we saw a spectacular light show. I am so glad we stopped. David then took anyone who wanted a hot dog into the city and stopped at the infamous hot dog stand that Bill Clinton visited as well. It was already late, the tour was over, and he had a family to go home to but he truly wanted us to have a great and full trip, so he made all of us visitors saw/ate everything they wanted.
Had a wonderful tour with nicetravel. Our guide was knowleadge and explained to us a lot about Iceland and the culture. We had an awesome trip for the two days with the tour group. The accommodation despite being a hostel is well kept and very clean. Ice caving experience was very good. Nicetravel has been really accommodating with my requests and answers all my quiries promptly. They even helped out to suggest my proposal plan and the proposal went well as per planned in blue ice cave. The tour guide helped out to capture all the moments with his DSLR. In future when I visit Iceland again, will surely book again the tour group
Hi Kesavan, we are really happy to have been part of your big day and wish you and your fiancee all the best. Congratulations from all of us in Team NICE 🙂
David is a passionate and knowledgeable tour guide who planned the journey very well so we could make good use of the sunlight and spend enough time in every spots. He explained the natural phenomenon in details and booked a decent restaurant for us to have lunch together. The hotel is clean and cozy with nice breakfast provided. I advised everyone should finish watching Game of Thrones before joining this trip as David will try to tell you some spoilers when we visited some place where GOT was filmed (although he didn't do so at last :D)If you want to have a pleasant and fun tour in Iceland, David will be your best companion and tour guide!!
