Join this 3 day tour exploring the South of Iceland to discover the Golden Circle, stunning glaciers, lava fields, volcanoes, strong rivers, magic waterfalls and the amazing Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon
During this guided 3-day Small Group Tour you will travel across the most popular region of Iceland - South Coast.
The tour starts with classic Golden Circle Route that includes Thingvellir National Park, Geysirs and Gullfoss waterfall and we add a visit to the unique Kerid Volcanic Crater. For the next two days you will also visit magical waterfalls, the Black Beach of Reynisfjara, and the stunning Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon where huge icebergs float in ice cold water and seals swim around them next to the Diamond Beach just to name a few.
During the booking process you can add additional experiences to this trip to make the most of your travel - amphibian boat tour among floating icebergs at Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon and Glacier hike on blue ice in Solheimajokull. Our glacier guides are professionals and they will provide you all safety equipment needed for the Glacier Hike (crampons, ice axes, etc) and teach you how to use them in a correct way. The scenery and views from the Glacier is stunning and you see ice sculptures and the deep crevasses of the glacier in a very clear way.
If you want to witness one of Iceland’s most incredible natural phenomenon, then you should book this tour now. There is an extremely limited availability for this unique tour.
The Golden circle is the most popular destination in Iceland. Geysers, Gullfoss waterfall and Thingvellir are a must see for any visitor to our island.
We want to add something unique to your experience and that´s why we will also visit the big volcanic crater called Kerid. The crater is 270 m wide and more than 55 m deep. There is a lake in the bottom of the crater which gives it a little bit of magic. The lake is almost 14 m deep.
Thingvellir National park is the National shire of all Icelanders. It lies within the belt of volcanic activity and fissures which pass across Iceland, a part of the mid-Atlantic ridge, the junction of the american and Eurasian tectonic plates. It is a nice feeling to stand with your right foot in Europe and the left one in America.
Geysir – the biggest geysers of Haukadalur are Strokkur and Geysir itself, which gives the others their name. Strokkur erupts every 5 to 10 minutes, throwing a column of water into the air to a height of 20 to 30 meters.
Gullfoss is one of the most amazing waterfalls in Iceland.
We will stay overnight in the South Region. Standard of accommodation is to be chosen during booking process
We start with visiting the two great waterfalls of the south coast, Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss, as well as visiting lesser known, more secret waterfalls Glufrabui and Irafoss. We make a stop where guests can buy lunch.
As we continue we will drive under the great Eyjafjallajökull glacier volcano and the Mýrdalsjökull glacier cap, where you can take a Glacier Hike for about 1,5 hours and have a closer look at the Solheimajokull glacier.
A bit further is the great Reynisfjara beach, where the sea crashes upon black sands and hexagonal basalt columns and rock stacks tower over the surroundings.
We will be staying again overnight on the South Coast
Today, you will take a close look at majestic glaciers and lagoons. After a stop in the lovely village of Vik we drive to the East where we visit the one of the most recognizable canyon in Iceland – Fjaðrárgljúfur, that got international attention after being featured in the music video of one of the Canadian singers. 2-kilometers long, 100 meters deep ancient canyon with quite a unique serpent-like shape is on the bucket list of many visitors and locals alike. Please note, that due to fragile vegetation it might happen that canyon will not be accessible during your tour. If that happens we will arrange another amazing sightseeing spot in this area, that is full of charming creeks and falls. Then it is onto waterfall Foss á Sidu and the National park in Skaftafell where we make a stop where guests can buy lunch.
Then we head to the amazing Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon where you can take a boat tour (bookable as an extra), sailing on the lagoon. The lagoon is full of huge chunks of ice which crack off Breiðamerkurjökull glacier and float slowly out to sea. Some icebergs wash on shore, lying on the vivid black sand beach, called Diamond Beach, like diamonds on satin. There is a good possibility of seeing seals swimming around the huge icebergs.
After enjoying this wonderful experience we head back in the afternoon towards Reykjavik where we estimate to arrive around 21:15 (09:15pm).
