Being one of the oldest settlements in Iceland (mentioned in the Sagas of Icelanders) it is believed that among the first people who came here was Ingólfur Arnarson who started calling this place home somewhere around 873-74. It is this notable Icelander that gave name to the stunning Ingólfsfjall mountain that is fenced with cliffs in three ways and gives Selfoss nice background.
