What to expect
Kleifarvatn Lake
Your private tour starts with a convenient pick-up from your accommodation in Reykjavik and a smooth drive out through the suburbs to the first stop at Kleifarvatn, the largest and deepest lake on the peninsula, ringed by black sand beaches and jagged lava cliffs. Local legend suggests a Loch Ness-like monster may lurk in the depths here.
Krysuvik Geothermal Area
Next on the itinerary is a stop at Krysuvik, a wild and fizzing geothermal area with numerous hot springs constantly bubbling and spitting lava-heated water and mud skyward. Carefully positioned walkways enable you to get close to see the mesmerizing mineral colors on display here.
Brimketill Rock Pool
Gunnuhver Hot Springs& Valahnukamol Cliffs
The next stop sees us visit the Gunnuhver hot springs, a group of active mud pools and steam vents named after a local witch who in folklore met her doom here, so watch where you step! Within 5 minutes drive we reach then Valahnúkamöl – stunning bird cliffs and basalt columns rising from the sea.
Bridge Between Continents
Grindavik & Blue Lagoon
After you have enjoyed the experience of walking between continents, we will turn back towards Grindavik, the only town in the southern area of the peninsula.
The last part of our tour is the most popular place of all in Iceland – the iconic Blue Lagoon. Many visit this unique place to bathe in the steamy milky-green waters every day, but we will make it easy and straightforward for you to enjoy your time here, with pre-booked timed admission tickets being a part of your private tour with Nice Travel.
After soaking all your cares away in two beautiful hours at the Blue Lagoon, it will be time to head back to the bright lights of Reykjavik, where you can reflect on an unforgettable day on the Reykjanes Peninsula and enjoy the rest of your evening in the world’s northernmost capital city.
