Tour Highlights

Come with us on a fun-filled adventure to explore Iceland’s stunning South Coast, walking around spectacular waterfalls and searching for puffins on a beautiful black sand beach!

After we’ve picked you up, we’ll head south from Reykjavík into the Blue Mountains, crossing a rugged lava plateau. You’ll soon see superheated steam billowing into the air from the little town of Hveragerði, which means “Hot Spring Field”.

We’ll swoop down a winding corkscrew road onto the coastal plains and through rich farmland, where you will spot the famous Icelandic horses as they play in the fields.

Now your adventure to Iceland’s magnificent South Coast has begun! You’re discovering a place filled with magical sights, including thundering waterfalls, glittering glaciers, dramatic black sand beaches and moody volcanoes. Wherever you look, the views are simply amazing!

We’ll stop for refreshments at Hvolsvöllur, where you’ll be able to see Hekla, one of the gigantic volcanoes that frequently erupts in this part of Iceland.

Seljalandsfoss and Gljufrabui Waterfalls

Your first South Coast thrill is to visit Seljalandsfoss. This 60m cascade tumbles into a plunge pool with an enormous cave hiding behind the waters. There’s an exciting path that you can walk behind the waterfall to see it from the other side! Justin Bieber filmed his “I’ll Show You” music video here too.

As well as that, we’ll take you to the “hidden waterfall” of Gljúfrabúi, which tumbles into a concealed canyon. Not many people know about it, so this is an extra treat for you!

Skogafoss and Irafoss Waterfalls

Our next stop is Skógafoss, an incredible 60m-high waterfall that you might have seen in “Game of Thrones”, “Thor”, and “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty”.

It’s a thrilling sight, and you may be lucky enough to see rainbows here. Skógafoss means “Forest Falls”, but there aren’t many trees now! There are 370 steps to the top of the falls – will you climb up and take a look from there?

Solheimajokull Glacier

Next, we’ll show you another glacier, with a short visit to see Sólheimajökull, the “Sun’s Home Glacier”.  From the viewing point you will be able to soak in the view of magnificent glacier and small lagoon forming in front of it.

Did you know that glaciers cover more than 10% of Iceland’s surface? Some are shrinking now, so enjoy this sight while you can.

Reynisfjara Black Beach and Dyrhólaey

The last stop on your exhilarating South Coast adventure will take you to the breathtaking black sand beach of Reynisfjara and see the puffins nesting during the summer months at Dyrhólaey.

You’ll see thundering Atlantic waves and incredible hexagonal basalt columns clinging to the cliffs, which you can climb if the tide is out! So keep an eye on the waves while you’re here, and always listen to your guide!

Dyrhólaey means “Door Hill Island” and it is one of the best places in Iceland to see puffins up close while they’re visiting Iceland in the summer.

You’ll be able to watch them swooping out to sea to feed before clumsily landing at their cliff nests. Everyone loves puffins, and they love having their pictures taken too!

Puffins make their home in Iceland from May until August, and the largest colonies in the world are here. So this is your chance to see these cute birds for yourself! Don’t miss it!
