Your four-day tour starts with a convenient pick-up in Reykjavik and a scenic drive to Borgarnes, where we’ll stop for refreshments. Then we will cut inland to visit Deildartunguhver, the most powerful geothermal spring in Europe, which provides hot water for the people of West Iceland. You’ll then enjoy the stunning sights of Hraunfossar (the “Lava Falls”), where the milky-blue waters cascade from a lava field, and Barnafoss (the “Children’s Falls”), the site of a tragic tale in Icelandic folklore. Then you will have a choice of activities when booking. You will take a Lava Cave expedition at Vidgelmir, where you’ll get to see stunning ice formations, stalactites and stalagmites up close! After stops at Husafell and Reykholt, you will spend the night in Borgarnes.

The second day takes you to the Snaefellesnes Peninsula, or “Snow Mountain’s Peninsula”. The name comes from Snaefellsjokull, an enormous snow-capped volcano that rises high into the sky at the very end of the peninsula. Snaefellsnes is also called “Iceland in Miniature”. That’s because it features pretty fishing villages, fjords, waterfalls, black sand beaches, lava fields, and famous mountains all in one easy-to-reach place. Snaefellsnes was the inspiration for Jules Verne when he wrote “Journey to the Center of the Earth”. We will take you to the pretty Black Church of Budakirkja and to Arnarstapi, where you will see Gatklettur, the famous “Rock with a Hole”. Then comes Londrangar Cliffs, an incredible collection of basalt pillars hugging the coastline and the Black Beach of Djupalonssandur. The second day’s highlight is Kirkjufell (Church Mountain), which is probably the most photographed mountain in Iceland. Then we will return to Reykjavik for an overnight stay.
OVERNIGHT STAY AT REYKJAVIK - short pit stop before heading West
Your four-day tour heads next from Reykjavik to the South Coast over a breathtaking mountain pass to the Atlantic shores. Our first stop will be Seljalandsfoss, a 60-meter-high cascade with a cave behind that allows you to walk behind the waters! There’s another “hidden” waterfall here called Gljufrabui that many visitors miss – we’ll show you where it is! Next comes Skogafoss, another stunning 60-meter waterfall you might have seen in “Game of Thrones”, Hollywood films or Justin Bieber music videos. After visiting the edge of Solheimajokull (“Sun’s Home Glacier”), Dyrholaey and Reynisfjara is our next stop, a dramatic black sand beach named by National Geographic as one of the finest in the world. Look out for the cliffs of basalt columns and the Reynisdrangar, thought by some to be trolls frozen in time!
OVERNIGHT STAY ON THE COUNTRYSIDE
Everyone who visits Iceland hopes to see the Northern Lights. Magical displays of green, white and purple light shimmer across the skies on clear nights. If we are lucky with the weather and if the aurora is active, we will make the best use of the low light pollution in this area to try to see them. Remember though – the Northern Lights are not “switched on” every day!

The final day of the tour takes you deep into the Vatnajokull National Park to explore the world-famous Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach at Jokulsarlon. Icebergs calve from the Breidamerkurjokull glacier and are slowly carved into fantastic multi-colored shapes by the wind and waves. We’ll show you where the iceberg fragments lie glittering on a nearby black sand beach, just like icy diamonds on satin sheets. The highlight of the day comes next – a Blue Ice Cave expedition! We’ll take you on a Super Jeep journey inland to discover this rare natural spectacle concealed deep within a glacier in the National Park. Each Blue Ice Cave experience is unique, with fabulous ice formations that no one else will ever see again! Then it will be time to return to Jokulsarlon and then west towards your accommodation in Reykjavik. But we have one more treat for you along the way home! You will get to see the pretty church at Hofskirkja, one of the last traditional turf-roofed churches in the country.
